A question
before you get started?
Routes, level, equipment, bookings…
Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions, to help you prepare your outing with complete peace of mind.
Getting started
I’ve never climbed before. Is this for me?
Yes, absolutely. All outings are accessible to beginners, including those who have never worn a harness before.
You’ll be accompanied by a state-certified instructor, with a progressive, reassuring approach — and no pressure.
What if I already climb indoors?
Then it’s the ideal time to move to outdoor rock climbing! Progression on real rock is different — and so is the pleasure.
Romain will help you transfer your existing skills gently, and build confidence and autonomy in a natural environment.
What level is required?
No specific level is required to get started. Romain adapts to your fitness, your goals, and your experience.
Only multi-pitch routes and adventure terrain require a minimum level of comfort — or a willingness to learn the specific techniques involved (anchors, rappelling, etc.).
Activities offered
What’s the difference between via ferrata and via cordata?
Via ferrata : a purpose-built route (ladders, cables, suspension bridges), secured by a fixed lifeline. You progress independently, with attentive supervision.
👉 A very playful activity, ideal for families.
Via cordata : a wilder route on natural rock, with no fixed equipment. You’re roped to the guide, who belays the group in real time.
👉 More immersive and closer to climbing, it requires a bit more physical fitness.
Are “adventure courses” and “adventure terrain” the same thing?
No, they are two very different things:
- Adventure courses refer to a playful, guided via cordata, accessible from around ages 10–12. They may include rappels, zip lines, and easy traverses.
- Adventure terrain (or “trad” climbing) involves climbing on non-bolted routes, placing your own protection (cams, nuts, slings, etc.).
👉 This more technical practice is offered through dedicated guided outings in several areas, including the Calanques, Sainte-Baume, and the Verdon Gorge.
What level is required?
No level is required to get started. Romain adapts to your fitness, your goals, and your experience.

Equipment & logistics
Do I need any equipment?
No, everything is provided except climbing shoes.
If you have your own equipment (harness, helmet, lanyards, etc.), Romain will check it on site to ensure it meets safety standards.
What should I bring?
✅ Sportswear suitable for the weather
✅ Sturdy shoes with a rigid sole (required for via ferrata / via cordata)
✅ Water (1 to 2 L), a snack, and a light jacket
✅ Your climbing shoes, if you have them
👉 No need to buy anything to discover the activity.
How long does an outing last?
- Half-day: around 3 to 4 hours
- Full day: 6 to 7 hours, including breaks, the approach walk, and possible rappels
Families & children
From what age can you take part?
- Via ferrata: from ages 7–8
- Rock climbing: from around 8 years old
- Via cordata: from ages 10–12, depending on physical fitness and the site
Is the activity suitable for families?
Yes. Several outings are designed for families (via ferrata, adventure courses, introductory rock climbing). The pace is adapted to everyone.
Everything is clearly explained, fully guided, and experienced in a relaxed atmosphere.
